Heirloom Apple Tasting
Where: Watauga County Agricultural Conference Center

How you like them Apples!?
Come by and tempt your taste buds with 10-12 Heirloom apple varieties grown in the Appalachian Highlands. We will have local apple grower, Bill Moretz, and regional anthropologist, Jim Veteto from Western Carolina University to discuss local heirloom apples, the history of apple farming in the area, and the subtleties of each variety. Complementary food pairings include local bread, goat cheese, goat caramel, apple butter, fresh apple pie, an apple spinach salad and hand pressed cider from North Carolina. There will be an activity corner for the kids!
There is a donation of fee of $15 per person or $25 per couple is requested to benefit Blue Ridge Women in Agriculture.

What: During this workshop, we will be discussing fencing, housing, pasture management, managing parasites, feed, breeding, kidding, milking, and more. After the workshop, we will be tossing pizza into the wood-fired oven, so make sure to stick around afterwards!
