BRWIA Handbook: Resource Website
This resource website is part of a BRWIA project to connect people in the Blue Ridge to resources and mentors that can jump start their connection to our food system. The website has links to recommended resources by experienced farmers in the High Country region.
Blue Ridge Farm Book
The Blue Ridge Farm book includes photography and profiles of thirteen farmers in the High Country Region. The profiles Include the farmers stories and their personal advice on a variety of topics. The printed book is available for free to BRWIA members or for a small fee.
Mary Boyer Sustainable Agriculture and Food Grants
Small grants are awarded to female farmers, ranchers, or processors who plan to create innovative, sustainable solutions to producing or marketing obstacles in the High Country by completing a sustainable food and agriculture project or pursuing educational opportunities in sustainable food and agriculture.
Direct-to-Farmer Grants
In 2015 Blue Ridge Women in Agriculture administered Direct-to-Farmer grants for the first time. With funding from Heifer International, a global non-profit organization dedication to working with community to end hunger and poverty while learning to care for the Earth, roughly $30,000 will be distributed to local farmers in Alleghany, Ashe, Wilkes, and Watauga counties in North Carolina and Johnson County, Tennessee.

BRWIA is collaborating with the Women’s Fund of the Blue Ridge to make training and professional development opportunities more affordable for female farmers in our service area
