Local Food Systems Internship

Become a Local Food Systems leader with Blue Ridge Women in Agriculture!

Through our semester-based internship program, participants gain hands-on skills related to sustainable agriculture, fair and just food systems, community organizing, systems thinking, and nonprofits enterprises.

Interns work alongside staff members to (re)build the High Country's local food system by preserving our agricultural landscape and enabling small family farms to thrive while ensuring that all people have access to good, clean, local food.

Internship Responsibilities:
  • Attend weekly program meetings and implementation meetings for the activities
  • Work closely with the BRWIA Staff to support program planning
  • Aid with garden and farm work days
  • Help promote events and perform cooking demos at area Farmers’ Markets
  • Publicize events to the general community, including hanging fliers and social media.
  • Individual outreach to participants
  • Track participants and volunteers at BRWIA events
  • Assistance with general tasks in the BRWIA office as needed
  • Other duties pertaining to programs as needed by BRWIA Staff
