Getting There
What to Bring
Attire: Mountain Smart Casual
Check-In
- A Savory Shindig will be held at Appalachian View, located at 1117 Sugar Mountain Road #2, Newland, NC. There is plenty of parking on site.
What to Bring
- A vegetable. From your garden, the farmers market, your CSA, or the High Country Food Hub — it goes into the Community Soup pot and becomes part of the evening!
- A sweater. Mountain evenings can be brisk, and you'll want to enjoy the outdoor venue comfortably.
- Your preferred form of payment. A Savory Shindig is both a celebration and a fundraiser. Come ready to support the work and bid on our silent art auction!
Attire: Mountain Smart Casual
- Stylish and polished, with a nod to the outdoors. Think outfits fit for a celebration, but comfortable for walking on grass or gravel and ready for a cool mountain breeze.
Check-In
- No need to bring your tickets. Check in at the door by giving the name the tickets were purchased under.
- If you've reserved a table, let us know your party name when you arrive and we'll show you right to it.
- Passing your tickets along to someone else? Just make sure they know to check in under your name.

Local Libations
- The James Beard-nominated team at Reid's Cafe & Catering Co has crafted a menu that tastes exactly like an Appalachian August. The evening opens with a grazing table before sitting down to a seasonal dinner built around the best of the summer harvest — think pickled peaches, blistered corn, and a sorghum banana pudding to finish. And that's just a taste of what's in store.
Community Soup
- One of our most cherished Shindig traditions. Bring a vegetable from your garden, the farmers market, your CSA, or the High Country Food Hub, and it becomes part of something bigger: a soup that captures the flavors of the evening, prepared by Iona Jones of Sweetwater Supper Club. Once the Shindig wraps up, the finished soup will be available to purchase through the High Country Food Hub.
Community Art with Green Eyes Dye Studio
- Kelly Pierson will guide guests through a collective hammer-dyeing experience, creating a shared tapestry from locally grown flowers. No experience needed — just show up ready to make something beautiful together.
Live Music from Belleville Rendezvous
- A vocally-driven, multi-instrumental trio bringing warmth and energy to the evening.
Silent Auction
- Bid on handcrafted pieces from local artists across the High Country. Come ready to take something special home.
Local Libations
- Craft beverages from Appalachian Mountain Brewery and Linville Falls Winery.
