First Friday Screening of BRWIA Documentary

You're invited to our first local screening of the documentary "Blue Ridge Women in Agriculture: Farm, Food & Community" during Boone's First Friday in September. 

When: Friday, September 6
Time: 7-8pm
Location: Turchin Center for the Visual Arts

A brief panel discussion will follow the screening with the filmmakers, Anne Ward and Chip Williams, and one of BRWIA's Founding Mothers, first full time Executive Director, and retired goat dairy farmer Carol Coulter.

Join Blue Ridge Women in Agriculture and NC Cooperative Extension at the Upper Mountain Research Station for a workshop all about Small Ruminants! This is workshop local, hands-on, certification training for FAMACHA.

Local Food as Medicine Summit
​March 7, 2024

BRWIA convened an Annual LocalFAM Summit in February 2023 and March 2024. We brought together food access organizations, farmers, and community stakeholders to learn from other professionals who are passionate about healthy food access and to collaborate to form strategic partnerships and to find solutions to community food access issues. 

On average, 1 in 8 people experience food insecurity in the High Country (Source: feedingamerica.org)
