Spring 2026 Internships - CLOSED

All Spring 2026 internships are now filled. We are accepting Summer 2026 internships through April 4th, 2026. 

Applications submitted after April 4th, 2026 may not be considered.

​ Qualifications for all internships:
  • Interest in High Country food systems or sustainable agriculture
  • Ability to work independently with self-guided initiative​
  • Knowledge of and experience with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram)
  • Strong attention to detail and well organized
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Ability to complete tasks and respond to email communications in a timely manner
  • Comfortable interacting with diverse populations and speaking in front of groups of people
  • Working knowledge of Google Drive and Canva​

Summer 2026 Internships - OPEN

 King Street Market Internship (Apply here)

Internship Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with the BRWIA staff to support the King Street Farmers' Market 
  • Provide assistance at the Market Managers' booth, including processing SNAP/EBT and Double Up Food Bucks transactions
  • Support the planning, publicizing, and facilitating of weekly special events including musical performances and cooking demos, and collecting market data.
  • Interact directly with local food producers/farmers as well as market patrons.
  • Create content for newsletter, social media posts, and printed promotional material.
  • Complete routine tasks such as set-up/break-down of the Market space.
  • Other duties pertaining to market program as needed by BRWIA Staff.​
Time commitment:
  • 8-15 hours a week
  • MUST be available Tuesday afternoons (1:30pm - 8pm) April - October during summer and fall internships;  OR Saturday mornings December - March for spring internships
  • Schedule may vary depending on interest and duration of the internship.

​Food Hub Internship (Apply here)

You must volunteer in the Food Hub before applying for a Food Hub Internship. See the volunteer link above to get started. Please tell staff while you are volunteering that you will be applying for an internship. 

Internship Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with the BRWIA staff to support the High Country Food Hub​
  • Interact directly with local food producers/farmers as well as Market patrons.
  • Help with organizing orders at the Food Hub for pickup day 
  • Help with creating content for the newsletter and social media posts and general day-to-day upkeep at the Food Hub
  • Other duties pertaining to market programs as needed by BRWIA Staff
Time Commitment:
  • 5-20 hours a week, depending on interest, program, and duration of the internship.
  • Must be available from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on Tuesdays and/or for at least 4 hours between 8:00 am and 6:30 pm on Wednesday


LocalFAM Internship (Apply here)

The LocalFAM Internship directly supports the operation of the Local Food As Medicine program. LocalFAM is BRWIA's food access program that includes multiple grant-funded projects with the goal of connecting the High Country with free, healthy food. 

This internship is geared toward individuals who have an interest in health education and programs that address food insecurity and other social determinants of health. Strong attention to detail and the ability to effectively coordinate tasks is required.

Internship Responsibilities:
  • Assist with receiving, sorting, and packing products at the Food Hub
  • Lead weekly LocalFAM bag packing tasks, including setup and guiding volunteers
  • Assist with Healthy Opportunities Pilot (HOP) program tasks
  • Help develop the Nutrition Education Library by creating recipes and nutrition information materials
  • Special projects based on Intern's interests or school requirements
  • Other duties pertaining to LocalFAM programs as needed by BRWIA Staff
Time commitment:
  • 10-20 hours a week. Some work from home hours may be allowed for specific tasks or projects.
  • Tuesdays: 10:00 am - 4:00 pm (3+ hours required)
  • Wednesdays: 10:00 am - 3:00pm (required)
  • Thursdays: 10:00am - 1:00pm​


BRWIA Marketing Internship (Apply here)

This internship with Blue Ridge Women in Agriculture (BRWIA) supports outreach and community engagement efforts for the organization and its programs.

It’s designed for individuals interested in helping local farm businesses and food organizations succeed through creative, strategic marketing and effective communications. Interns will gain hands-on experience connecting community members with the vibrant local food system of the High Country.


Internship Responsibilities:
  • Creating content for Food Hub and BRWIA social media channels including: feed posts, reels, and stories
  • ​Develop Social Media Campaigns/Series that increase the demand for local food and educate consumers on our local food system and BRWIA programs
  • Use the BRWIA camera to capture operations and high quality photo
  • Assist  the Events and Outreach Coordinator in developing a  social media calendar, including Instagram and Facebook.
Time Commitment:
  • 5–10 hours per week. Schedule is flexible, but interns must be available for at least 2 hours on Wednesdays. Availability on Tuesdays for at least 2 hours is also preferred.

Food Hub Internship  

Internship Responsibilities:

must be available on Saturday mornings December - March, Tuesday evenings May - October). Schedule may vary depending on interest and duration of the internship. 
Collaborative Regional Alliance for Farmer Training (CRAFT) Internship

Internship Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with the BRWIA staff to support the High Country Food Hub​​ (must be available from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on Tuesdays and/or for at least 4 hours between 8:00 am and 6:30 pm on Wednesdays)
  • ​Help with creating content for the newsletter and social media posts and general day-to-day upkeep at the Food Hub
  • Interact directly with local food producers/farmers
  • Develop CRAFT workshops and roundtable discussions for producers/farmers
  • Other duties pertaining to the CRAFT program as needed by BRWIA staff
